Notarial services
If you have been told you need a document notarised, legalised, or that you need an apostille, we can offer you a fast and efficient notarial service.
In England and Wales, a Notary Public is an independent, legally qualified person who can certify and authenticate documents, usually for use abroad. It is important to understand that a Notary Public does not provide legal advice on the content of the document itself.
If this is your first time using a Notary, and you are not sure about what is involved, we can provide a free no obligation discussion.
-
If you are emigrating, studying or working abroad, or buying or selling property overseas, we can help you by notarising documents, which usually involves witnessing a signature or certifying documents.
We can assist with powers of attorney, affidavits, certifying ID documents and certificates, witnessing foreign wills and contracts and more. The reasons for requiring a Notary are many and varied, so please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
-
If you are doing business overseas or setting up an overseas subsidiary, you may need certain documents certified or witnessed by a Notary.
We can authenticate company documents and transactions and provide certificates as to the status of a company or the identity of its directors. We can offer similar services for charities, partnerships, LLPs and more.
We regularly work with directors, shareholders and their respective companies on large cross-border transactions, so we are well placed to assist you.

Often documents going abroad will need to be legalised. This process is conducted by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) who will attach an apostille to confirm that a public official’s signature and seal on a document are valid.
James’s signature and seal are registered with the FCDO, so we can obtain the necessary apostille for you, after James has reviewed, signed and sealed the relevant documents. In some cases consular legalisation (sometimes called super legalisation) will also be required, which we can also arrange.
We can provide a complete service, organising the courier of your documents to the FCDO and onwards to their final destination, taking the hassle away from you.
-
Increasingly, receiving jurisdictions are accepting e-notarisation and, where applicable, e-apostilles. Such methods bring various benefits, including not always having to meet the Notary face-to-face. We are pleased to offer e-notarisation - please contact us to discuss whether this is suitable for your matter.
